Welcome to PawsitivePetCoaching.com
My goal is to help you understand your dog’s behavior and use that information to turn unwanted behaviors into wanted ones. Whether you have a dog that jumps on everyone and needs to learn some basic commands, or a puppy that is relieving himself all over your house, I can help.
HomePic1 Pawsitive Pet Coaching will coach YOU to train your animal using a clicker and treats (these will eventually be phased out almost completely once your pet learns the target behavior) and work with behavior problems using non-aversive, positive reinforcement techniques. I do not use choke chains or prong collars or any training method to “scare” your pet into submission. I believe strictly in focusing on rewarding wanted behaviors and redirecting unwanted ones.
As mentioned above, I do use the clicker as a training tool. To me, there is nothing more beautiful than looking at a dog and seeing the wheels in their head turning, trying to figure out what it is that you want. Then there’s the overwhelming feeling of success when they do figure it out! I’m a firm believer in the philosophy of making your pet WANT to learn. Your dog should look forward to training sessions, not submit to them in a depressed stance, like most dogs do when they are trained with harsh methods. HomePic2
Bella We have come so far in the world of dog training and dogs are now being treated as part of the family instead of just a pet you see every once in a while in the back yard. Because of that, the use of positive reinforcement is being used more and more because it not only strengthens the bond between you and your dog but it also makes it possible for you to have a true canine good citizen.

Dog Bone Positive Reinforcement
I use mainly treats as positive reinforcement. These will eventually be used intermittently with toys and praise, but there will always be some kind of reward when a good behavior is demonstrated.
Clicker Clicker Method
The clicker is used to “mark” your pet’s good behavior. It’s the simplest, easiest way to communicate what your pet did right!
Dog And Cat Humane Methods Only
I do not believe in harsh methods of training (choke collars, prong collars, shock collars, etc). I want your dog to have FUN training and WANT to learn!
Okay! Experience
Currently there is no required education or training to become a dog trainer. However, I have been working in the animal industry for ten years and have a Bachelor's of Science degree in Animal Science.

“Thanks Beth, for making it possible for our Shih Tzu with an attitude to successfully pass her Therapy Dog certification and Canine Good Citizen’s test! You’ve helped us to develop her natural talent and now she is an outstanding therapy dog! Your love of animals and special way with dogs has made your classes a lot of fun! Best of all, they have helped us to develop a great relationship with the canine member of our family.”
